A milestone: RWJ’s first commissioned story.
Shared from donate.remotewritingjobs.org:
Thanks to the support of subscribers and donors, Remote Writing Jobs has published its first commissioned story. Austin Wilson’s piece titled The Big Lessons I Learned from Writing Small Stories is now live.
It’s been a long road to get here. There were moments I wasn’t sure the in-house publication would ever make it off the ground. Seeing this first commissioned piece published feels like both a relief and an honor. Because of you, that work was paid for before it was published. Austin earned $0.50/word ($250 total). I’m proud to offer a rate that respects a writer’s labor and paying writers prior to publication will remain the standard here. No story goes live without the writer being compensated first. As the GoFundMe campaign grows and the goal is met, I plan to raise the rate from $0.50/word to $1/word as the budget allows. The campaign is now 24% of the way toward funding the first ten commissioned pieces and each paid subscription and donation funds the next assignment. I’m actively securing guest writers, accepting pitches on an ongoing basis, and look forward to commissioning more writers in the months ahead.
Thank you for supporting writers and their work.
With gratitude,
Melissa Tripp, Founder of RWJ
