Paid opportunities for Black writers, finally in one place.
When I introduced The Black Writers Market, I didn’t know what the response would sound like.
Now I do.
“FINALLY.”
That was the message. Over and over.
Not because opportunity suddenly appeared but because it was finally visible.
There are paid writing and writing-adjacent roles that state plainly they’re hiring Black writers or producing work for Black readership. They exist across industries but they’re often buried in the middle of a posting, reduced to a single sentence, or mentioned so briefly it’s easy to miss.
So I gather them and bring them into one concentrated place. If it’s included, it recognizes the craft and perspective Black writers bring and it offers real compensation.
I don’t post on a fixed schedule because this work doesn’t arrive on one. I share opportunities as they surface and after they’re checked carefully. Before it reaches you, every listing is tested against one measure…
Does it honor the work and the writer?
The word “finally” tells me everything.
It tells me the issue was never talent.
It was never ambition.
It was never readiness.
It was access and visibility.
The market was always active.
Now it’s gathered.
