RWJ annual price update.
Pricing RWJ has never been straightforward. I’ve changed it more than once over time trying to find a number that supports the work while still feeling realistic for writers. That balance hasn’t been easy to get right.
When I set RWJ at $45/year, it was a conscious decision. I wanted it to feel genuinely accessible to writers who are trying to build something steady in an uneven industry.
At that price and with your support, RWJ has reached a point where it’s become sustainable. That matters. It means the directory can stand on its own and continue to exist without relying on anything outside of it.
That part is still true.
What’s changed is the amount of work it now takes to maintain it at the level it’s at.
There are more listings to go through, more filtering, and more awkward conversations about pay transparency, plus a higher volume of in-house publication pitches to review since I launched the first story. Keeping up with it all takes more time and focus than it ever did before.
This is also my full-time work and livelihood. I’m a writer too and RWJ is how I pay rent, maintain my car, put food on the table, and take care of everything in between while building something within this industry that allows other writers to support themselves too.
The monthly price is staying the same. RWJ will remain $15/month. That number reflects the real, ongoing value of the work. It’s the clearest representation of what it takes to maintain this consistently.
What I’m adjusting is the annual option.
To keep doing this well and reliably, I need to make a small adjustment.
Starting soon, RWJ will be:
$15/month
$79/year
The annual plan will still offer a substantial reduction for those who want a lower upfront cost. It will also better reflect the value of what RWJ has become. At the monthly rate, a full year of RWJ comes out to $180. The annual option at $79 brings that down by more than half (about a 56% reduction). That difference is there by design. It gives writers a way to access the directory without taking on a higher recurring cost while still respecting the work that goes into maintaining it.
If you’re already a paid subscriber, your current rate will stay the same.
If you’ve been thinking about upgrading, you can still get access for $45/year before the change takes effect on March 26th.
Reaching sustainability was an important step. This change is about holding the standard of fair and transparent pay in place as RWJ grows.
Thank you for being here and for supporting this work.
With commitment,
Melissa Tripp, Founder of RWJ
