Writers Deserve More: Announcing the RWJ Horizons Grant
RWJ began with a simple goal: to make paid opportunities visible to writers. Today, that work is currently sustained by over 200 paid subscribers and I’m building toward something more.
When I reach 1,000 paid subscribers, I’ll be launching the RWJ Horizon Grant: $2,500 awarded twice a year to writers facing financial hardship, giving two writers every year the chance to push through the roadblocks between them and their work.
Writers deserve more than survival. They deserve space, time, and tools to create work that matters. Yet too often, financial barriers stand in the way of words that need to be written.
That’s why I’m creating this grant to remove a single barrier between a writer and their craft. It might mean replacing a laptop that’s barely holding together. It might mean covering the cost of a course or workshop. It might simply mean buying time and a pause from other demands so the words can finally come.
This isn’t charity. It’s a continuation of what RWJ has always stood for: that support should flow directly back to writers.
Upgrade to support the RWJ Horizons Grant:
If you’re already with me, thank you for carrying this vision forward.
And if you’d like to go further, whether you’re a writer or someone who simply believes in writers, here are some other ways to help me get there:
Gift monthly or annual subscriptions: remotewritingjobs.org/gift
Donate annual subscriptions: remotewritingjobs.org/donate
Tip me on PayPal: rwjsubstack@gmail.com
Tip me on Venmo: @remotewritingjobs
Every act of support brings me closer to the moment this grant becomes real. Together, we can turn access into opportunity and give writers not just work to chase, but room to create.
With gratitude,
Melissa Tripp, Founder of RWJ
